Tsunami Relief Effort Update To All Old Boys' of The Doon School Gentlemen Our collections till date have exceeded Rs 6,00,000.00 (rupees six lacs) - three quarters from our fraternity and the balance from "friends" of the DSOBS. Many have advised that their contributions are on it's way and we appreciate everyone's efforts. Our immediate goal for this "relief" effort is to arrange funds to supply at least one million liters of drinking water. Clean Drinking Water Supply - our initial geographical area of disbursement has been along coastal Tamilnadu, where, by this evening, we would have disbursed more than 150,000 liters of water. Tomorrow, we should load upto 200,000 liters on "m.v. Nan Cowry" which will sail from Chennai port to the Andaman Islands. In addition, daily deliveries to affected villages along the Tamilnadu coast will continue per advise received from the Red Cross and the central governments, National Disaster Management Cell coordinator in Chennai, through whom we are channelising our efforts. Details of what we have been able to supply are as per the message below from Ajay Pratap Singh's (214H-1966) colleague in Chennai. Meanwhile, we have started receiving proposals for "rehabilitation" projects and these will be discussed, evaluated and shared with you in the future. On behalf of all of us on your society's Executive Committee, I thank you for your responses, support and contributions. Please do share this information with other old boys' with whom you are in contact - we have some 1500 email addresses out of the 4000 plus database of old boys.
