In November 1998, when Dr Parvinder Singh was recognized as the Businessman of the Year, his acceptance speech opened with the remark that it was an award to be cherished because it reflected the endeavors of hundreds of people in the Ranbaxy family. Such was his humility.

But he was no ordinary man. Dr. Parvinder Singh (136-J '60) passed away on July 3rd, 1999. He left behind a company that he had grown to $500 million in annual revenues with operations in 40 countries and a compounded growth rate of 28% over the last five years. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) said, “Mr Singh’s loss would be felt by both the industrial community and the nation. His vision, dynamism and outward-looking policies took Ranbaxy to great heights and made the company one of the few Indian MNCs to win acclaim all over the world.” He will be missed.

Doon Online extends its heartfelt condolensces to Dr. Singh's sons Malvinder Singh(136-JB 1990) Shivinder Mohan Singh(406-JB 1993), to his brothers Manjit Singh(157-J 1964) and Analjit Singh (132-J 1971) and to the rest of his family.
