Dear Doscos, I would like to extend my thanks to all of you for giving me the privilege to lead this great fraternity. It is an honour and a pleasure to be President of this distinguished society and I pledge my impartial service to all fellow Doscos. I am confident that together we can take this society to greater heights. Your support, good wishes and contributions are the underlying strength of DSOBS and I know that many of you will come forward with help, praise, criticism, suggestions — all ingredients to keep the Dosco flag flying high. My primary focus since I took up office has been to address the issue of admissions of Old Boy’s sons/grandsons. I am happy to share with you that the Board of Governors and the Headmaster have assured me that the preference given will be maintained and in some areas enhanced. I have, in this issue of the Rose Bowl, given some information/statistics which will help you understand the actual position. We have recently established a new subcommittee “ Admissions Advisory Subcommittee” which is chaired by the Vice President Anoop Bishnoi. The job of this subcommittee is to help OB’s sons/grandsons from the time of registration to the final written exam and interview. I feel that a combination of the subcommittee’s efforts and the Board Of Governors genuine interest to help OB’s sons/grandsons would go a long way in seeing more and more Dosco kids gain admission to the institution of their dreams. Another matter of importance for the society is the Permanent Secretariat project. Here too, I am very happy to inform you that we have commitments for Rs.85 lacs, and the balance Rs.15 lacs should hopefully be sponsored by early next year. If any Old Boy sees merit in this well supported project please do come forward so that we can finally find a home for our society. The various subcommittees of the society have been extremely active on all fronts – sports, scholarships, memorabilia, credit cards, website and the Rose Bowl. Lastly I would urge all class reps, regional reps and executive members to gainfully use the electronic media, visit the recently updated official website ( www.dsobs.org ) and spread the word as and when they become aware of any Dosco gathering or event.
